Bob Koomen
A convinced doubter with a head full of unexpected questions walks onto stage—and suddenly reality doesn't feel so stubborn anymore. Bob Koomen, the Amsterdam-based comedian and Comedytrain member, has been turning audiences' certainty upside down since 2020 with his intriguingly offbeat perspective on everything from MDMA emergency kits to the peculiar logic of modern life. The 32-year-old from Hoorn traded a promising career in Human Movement Sciences for the comedy stage, and it shows in his analytical, wonderfully peculiar take on the world. He stormed the finals of the Leids Cabaret Festival in 2025 with his debut show Peer, earning rave reviews from NRC for his mind-bending alternatives to everyday absurdities. With appearances at Lowlands Festival three years running, a memorable guest spot on LUBACH that had Dutch audiences in stitches, and regular sold-out shows across the Netherlands, Bob has cemented himself as one of the country's most exciting new voices. Mentored by comedy heavyweight Theo Maassen and performing alongside the best of Comedytrain at Amsterdam's legendary Toomler, he's honed a style that's equal parts clever and cheeky. While best known for his Dutch-language work, he's proven his comedy transcends borders—and he's quickly becoming a favourite on the Comedy Boat since 2024.
