Mat Wills
Picture this: a charismatic whirlwind with cheeky Cockney charm and an absolutely filthy mouth walks on stage, grabs the mic, and instantly owns the room. That's Mat Wills—MC extraordinaire, crowd-roaster, and the Comedy Boat's favourite ringmaster since 2024, with a staggering 232 MC appearances and 78 comic sets under his belt. Known online as @shortbloke, this self-deprecating maestro commands audiences with fearless material that leaves no taboo unturned and no punter un-roasted. He turned heads as the underground hit of Edinburgh Fringe 2024 with his outrageous solo show My Wife Took My Dad to a Brothel (I Drove), a brutally honest, heartwarming tribute to family and the absurd lengths we go to for love. Mat's infectious energy and no-holds-barred approach have earned him viral fame (check out his clip "Chinese Chinese"), a feature in the Times Literary Supplement's article "From philosophy to stand-up," and even a nude scene in his movie acting debut A Brothers Bond on Amazon Prime (you've been warned). When he's not commanding the Rum Monkey stage or hosting our podcast, you'll find him at 101 Comedy Club Folkestone or plotting his Edinburgh Fringe 2025 return. Brilliant MC, fearless comic, absolute legend. Warning: not for the faint-hearted.
